Nuoveforme|Icone Collection: a journey into the past generates a new present
The modernity of an iconic collection that the current design language brings back under the headlights.
The idea of the Icone collection comes from the encounter of Nuoveforme with Simona Cardinetti and Christoph Schnug and it takes shape as a curious journey within the rich historical archive of the Alvino Bagni Manufacture. The concept is stimulated by the search for suggestions and ideas through which to re-interpretate some of the original shapes of the archive that can be considered as one of the richest collections in the field of design ceramics.
Some of the goals that both the company and the designers shared were essential to develop the project in its final form:
• telling about the great passion for ceramics and the values that are at the base of Nuoveforme
today and originally of Ceramiche Alvino Bagni;
• bringing back to life and enhancing the tradition of design ceramics;
• re-reading this heritage under a contemporary light in order to make it usable.
Some works, conceived by Alvino Bagni and some others in collaboration with Remo Buti, all related to a time span that goes from the 50s ’to the 80’s, immediately struck Simona Cardinetti and Christoph Schnug for being so modern and varied: urban contaminations, animal subjects, playful and iconic shapes. The inspiration came immediately and led them to revisiting the original subjects, working through an unprecedented color code with the aim of restoring freshness and modernity to a selection of original artifacts.
The Icone Collection can be considered as a careful and gentle reinterpretation, with a new look made up of colors and combinations that the two designers have specially designed to emphasize the original expressive strength of each piece.

The source of inspiration for these vases for Alvino Bagni was the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the architectural symbol of Renzo Piano’s modernity. This suggestion turned into vessels and lamps reproducing the concept of those tubular shapes that feature the exterior part of the building of architect Piano. The vases can be used individually but also in combination with the others and they are available in some intense chromatic variations that can be set in spaces with different styles.

Birdie
Decorative Bird
Design: Alvino Bagni
A simple, almost elementary shape conceived to represent the formal understatement and cleanliness that have always been the key elements of Alvino Bagni’s style language. A shape where all unnecessary elements were removed and replaced only by essentials and archetypes. Bagni has worked on many animal subjects throughout his entire career: this one in particular strikes for its essentiality and for the expressive strength made of intuition and powerful colors.
