GEO FR, MP goes sustainable with its first eco-quality – PREVIEW HEIMTEXTIL 2024
GEO FR, MP goes sustainable with its first eco-quality
With the aim of pursuing increasingly sustainable goals through careful and environmentally friendly production, MP is pleased to announce the production of the first coated fabric, characterized by a strongly green identity.
GEO FR is the new offer by MP, a multipurpose coated fabric that comes with a dollar grain that gives the product a classic but contemporary look, suitable for any type of use, both in the residential and contract sectors.
It is made of PVC on jersey, which guarantees a soft and pleasant touch and at the same time excellent workability. The fire resistance features make the product eligible to obtain the highest certification standards in the EU market. The available range of colours are completely in line with the freshness and modernity of the project.
Aesthetically and qualitatively, it is absolutely in line with MP offer, with an added green focus given by the materials used and the eco-sustainable processes of manufacture.
The backing, which is the basis of the fabric, is in fact made with 100% recycled cotton, unlike the other MP products: a totally natural fibre that reduces the indiscriminate use of virgin raw materials.
The PVC used in the production of GEO FR is produced through a biological/circular value chain, ethylene is produced using 20% biomass, and chlorine is obtained through the electrolysis process, using electricity from renewable sources. A totally transparent and ISCC certified supply chain.
The plasticizer is produced through the use of recycled raw materials obtained from plastic processing scraps. Furthermore, the fossil resources upstream of the chain are replaced by pyrolysis oil obtained from previously unrecycled plastic waste. The product obtained maintains the same specifications and technical properties as traditional plasticizers and is REDcert certified.
Realizing a fabric where the materials used are highly sustainable involves a series of benefits which lead to an overall substantial reduction of CO2 emissions and significant savings in greenhouse-gas, in addition to the replacement of fossil components with non-fossil raw materials.
The result, tangible and certified, does not involve any compromise in terms of quality, performance, resistance and recyclability. It doesn’t require any modification or intervention of the production process to obtain the finished fabric.
It is an important step forward for MP which identifies the new production of eco-sustainable fabrics with the ECOSPHERE brand.
