Bencore:Wasbottle, the new 100% recycled material has been selected for ADI Design Index 2021
Wasbottle, the new material produced by the collaboration between Autogrill and Bencore, has been choosen for ADI Design Index 2021, the selection of the best Italian design that completes the preselection for the next “Compasso d’Oro”, the most prestigious world design award.
The panel – selected in the category of ‘Enterprise Research ‘- is 100% post-consumer recycled and recyclable, respecting the circular economy standards and is designed for architecture applications in interiors and exteriors.
The encounter between Autogrill and Bencore came as an opportunity to develop the design of the stores of the motorway service giant. Autogrill has long undertaken a path of R&D linked to sustainability and circular economy that has led to the program ‘A Future’ and a series of activities that aim to minimize the environmental impact of businesses thanks to its ethics of reuse and waste reduction.
The recycling of waste materials collected on their premises is one of the key points of the program: Bencore has therefore committed itself to produce a panel that is 100% recycled and recyclable, using plastic material coming from the containers of detergents or other cleaning liquids (HDPE, PET and PETG) which have been used by Autogrill itself.
This is how Wasbottle was conceived: a fruitful collaboration that gives architects and designers innovative ideas to use high and authentic sustainability content materials for their work and creations.
‘We are very happy that Wasbottle has obtained this prestigious award from ADI – says Giorgio Bianchini CEO of Bencore – It confirms the great commitment that our company is putting into research and in the development of innovative materials that are really green and sustainable. The partnership with Autogrill certainly has given us a challenge which we have welcomed with enthusiasm, bringing us even closer to the primary objective set for our products: zero environmental impact.’
Bencore has long been active on the sustainability side: the unmistakable honeycombs of the Carrara Company are produced with awareness of the environment and have a green soul that makes them perfect for architectural and interior projects that must meet strict design criteria, with high energy efficiency and low environmental impact. With the launch of Wasbottle this milestone is very close.
The ADI Design Index is the first volume of the cycle that collects the products preselected for the Compasso d’Oro Award ADI, the award, designed in 1954 by “La Rinascente” and then donated to the ADI which has managed it uninterruptedly since 1956. It is the most prestigious recognition in terms of production and design quality of goods, services, processes and systems of Italian design.
